Description

Roman [English] chamomile, also known as Chamaemelum nobile or Anthemis nobilis, is a perennial evergreen herb native to the western regions of Europe. It has fragrant leaves, hairy stems, and small white flowers with yellow centers. Chamomile is found in herbal teas the majority of the time, but it has also been used to flavor traditional liqueurs with a distinctive floral aroma. Roman chamomile essential oil is obtained through steam distillation of the flowers of the plant.

Directions For Use

Diffusion: Add 4 drops to the diffuser. 

Internal Use: Add 1 drop to a glass of water. 

Topical Use: Mix 5 drops of essential oil with 10 ml of carrier oil.

Oil Applications

When applied topically, Roman chamomile essential oil has soothing effects on the skin, It helps relive irritations and can aid in the treatment of inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema, acne, psoriasis, burns, small wounds, cuts, and canker sores. It also helps to diminish itching and rashes related to allergic reactions. In addition, it can serve as pain relief for arthritic conditions, menstrual cramps, and PMS-related aches. Lastly, it helps alleviate congestion and coughs.

In children, it is often used for earaches, fevers, hyperactivity, stomach aches, and digestive problems.


Taken internally, it supports healthy digestion and lowers blood pressure.


In aromatherapy, it helps with depression and anxiety and promotes healthy sleep. Its calming properties promote relaxation.
